How about giving incentives for all-in-one clothes washer/dryer units that run automatically from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM once set and loaded with laundry since no one needs to be present to move the wash load into the separate electric dryer. Most laundry is done by working people when they are home from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM making the loads on the grid higher because they have to move the clothes in the middle of the job. Also heat exchanger hot water heaters could be programed to run only on heat exchanger operation and not on “Boost” from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Those that like a long hot shower will find out quickly that showering before 4:00 PM or after 9:00 PM will give them a steady temperature. it will also save them money on time-of-day billing. Inductive stove could also be programed to only run on Two burners and not four burners between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM so meals will be planned ahead. Programable three stage heat exchanger splits can be run on the lowest usage setting from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM unless a manual override is pushed so the units will save energy when no one is at home. EV charging units could also be programmed to not charge from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM unless a bypass button is pushed and then only runs for 20 minutes to give just enough power to get to the store and back.
